CSU/DSU cards.

CSU/DSU Statistics Utility Added

series T-1 and E-1 cards, stats offers a CSU/DSU statistics page. This detail

and provides line error information for the current 15-minute interval. The
utility also offers suggestions about potential problem areas if alarms are

Interface Statistics Utility Usability Options Added

The stats program included in Version 3.4.2 of SAND adds several new usability
features. A help menu is available by pressing "h". This will display a page
of all valid commands. The aforementioned CSU/DSU detail page is available by
pressing "c". Users may also jump to a particular interface detail page by
using the "j" command and entering an interface name. Pressing any key while
running stats will refresh the screen and clear any console messages that may
scroll on top of the window.

Ethernet Statistics Support Updated

The stats program included in Version 3.4.2 includes new Ethernet statistics
information. Hardware and protocol status are updated based on the mii link
negotiation between the Ethernet port and the connected Ethernet device. The
summary output automatically reports the proper link speed under link
encapsulation. The Ethernet detail page reports collision statistics, link speed
and advertised link capability information.

Summary Page Of Statistics Output Updated

The summary page of the version of stats included in SAND 3.4.2 displays new
information. Lines that show hardware or protocol status down will display the
length of time the link has been in a down state.

New Distributions Supported

Two new pre-compiled distributions have been added to the Web site download
area. Pre-compiled binaries for Slackware 7.1 and RedHat 7.3 have been added to
the Web site.

Bugs fixed in Version 3.4.2

The following bugs have been fixed in SAND Version 3.4.0:

Statistics Utility Bandwidth Usage Calculation Corrected

The stats utility in SAND versions prior to 3.4.2 could report slightly skewed
usage results if the time required to update link usage statistics exceeds the
sleep interval selected by the user. stats now uses the actual time required to
update for the calculation, regardless of the actual sleep interval.

Summary Page Of Statistics Output Corrected

Previous SAND versions incorrectly displayed "never up" on the summary page
under certain conditions when a line was in a down state. Version 3.4.2
correctly reports the actual time that the link has been in a down state. The
summary page also provides clearer information about links that have been
administratively shut down.
